"We had been going back and forth with the management council for months over a common area issue. Rachel Lim at thornwickess sat with us, read through the by-laws, and explained clearly what our position was and what remedies were actually available. The advisory report she prepared was detailed and practical — our matter was resolved within six weeks."

"When I received the charge, I did not know what to do. Aaron was calm and thorough — he explained what the charge actually meant, what my realistic options were, and what bail might look like. I felt like I had a real picture of my situation for the first time. The written assessment he gave me was something I referred back to throughout."

"Adoption is an emotional journey. Having Wei Ling alongside us made an enormous difference — she had clearly navigated this process many times, and she knew where families usually get stressed. The timeline document she prepared at the start meant we were never caught off guard. Our order was granted in the seventh month."

"Our condo management council had been operating without a proper by-law framework for years. thornwickess reviewed what we had, identified the gaps, and produced a comprehensive advisory report with recommendations. The AGM procedure guide they included was something we had not known to ask for but have since used repeatedly."

"What I appreciated most was that Aaron was straightforward about what the consultation covered and what it did not. He did not oversell. His assessment laid out three possible paths and explained the considerations for each. I left knowing exactly where I stood, which was more valuable than reassurance would have been."

"We came to thornwickess after a difficult start with another firm. Wei Ling took time to understand where we were in the process and what had already been done. The home study coordination in particular was something she handled with a lot of care. Our adoption was completed and we are grateful for the patience shown throughout."

How matters have unfolded

Strata Title Advisory

Management corporation facing contested AGM procedures

The Situation

A residential condominium management corporation contacted thornwickess after a contested AGM where several resolutions were challenged on procedural grounds. Relations between the council and a group of subsidiary proprietors had deteriorated over levy collection disputes.

Our Approach

We reviewed the by-laws, the AGM minutes, and the correspondence exchanged. An advisory report was produced setting out which resolutions were procedurally sound and which required remedial steps. A revised AGM procedure guide was also provided.

The Outcome

The management corporation was able to convene a supplementary meeting within the engagement period. The contested resolutions were re-passed without further challenge. The advisory report continues to serve as the council's reference document for governance matters.

"The structured guidance thornwickess gave us resolved something that had been festering for almost a year." — Council Chairman

Adoption Proceedings

Family navigating local adoption with incomplete documentation

The Situation

A Singapore family with an eligible child came to thornwickess partway through an adoption process they had started without legal representation. Several documents had not been obtained in the required form, which risked delaying the court application significantly.

Our Approach

Wei Ling reviewed what had been submitted and identified the documentation gaps. A revised timeline was prepared, along with a priority action list. We coordinated with the home study provider and prepared the court application once all documents were in order.

The Outcome

The adoption order was granted five months after thornwickess's involvement. Despite the complicated starting point, the family was kept informed at every step and experienced no further administrative setbacks after we took over coordination.

"We came in a bit of a mess. Wei Ling was patient with us and got things sorted one step at a time." — Family client
